Sepiwhite™ MSH is a lipoaminoacid or vectorized essential amino acid developed from phenylalanine, an amino acid involved in melanin synthesis. MSH is an alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) receptor agonist developed from this amino acid that inhibits the process of melanin synthesis from the hypothalamus to produce a reduction in melanic pigments in skin cells.
In two studies, 1% Sepiwhite™ MSH was combined with 5% niacinamide in lotion. Volunteers reported a reduction in hyperpigmentation after 8 weeks of usage.
In an eight week study using 2% Sepiwhite™ MSH alone, 83% of volunteers reported a more radiant complexion, 73% fewer age spots, 100% lighter age spots, and 100% more even complexion and skin tone.
In a seven day study using Sepiwhite™ MSH alone, volunteers reported hyperpigmentation was reduced by 24% and skin luminosity increased by 9%
Sepiwhite™ MSHcan be combined with a number of other ingredients designed to assist with hyperpigmentation. It can be combined with AHAs to promote a more radiant complexion and more even skin tone.
In studies using 0.2% Sepiwhite™ MSH and 2% ascorbyl glucoside, it doubled the lightening action resulting in a 13% decrease in melanin pigments.
In a two month study using Sepiwhite™ MSH alone, skin’s luminosity was increased by +1.13 L*, a measure of skin’s brightness.

SEPIWHITE™ MSH Formulation Guidance
1. It’s recommended to add SEPIWHITE™ MSH into hot water phase and use weak
base like TEA, Tromethamine or AMP to neutralize it to pH 7.
The dosage of base:
pH ~ 7

2. It is advisable to adjust the pH of formulas containing SEPIWHITE™ MSH at the
start of formulation, by incorporating the required quantity of neutralizing agent
in the aqueous phase before emulsification.
3. Neutralizing SEPIWHITE™ MSH produces electrolytes likely to cause
fluidification. It’s recommended to use electrolyte-resistant polymers like
SEPIPLUS™ 400, SEPINOV™ EMT 10 or SEPIMAX™ ZEN.
4. Advices in different systems:
In Water solutions or Cream-gels, if using 0.5~1% SEPIWHITE™ MSH, we advise
to add 0.5 to 1 % Polysorbate 20 and adjust final pH ≥ 6.8 to prevent SEPIWHITE
MSH™ crystallization in the formula.
In emulsions, there are 2 cases as below:
1) Final pH is between 5~6.8:there are 2 solutions as below:
a). It’s recommended to add some oils as below to help its solubility.
Ratio is Oil: SEPIWHITE™ MSH ≥ 5:1.
